TOP TOWN 2000

This year, as you are probably aware, sees us going to Southampton in March. We are only playing 4's this time, plus there is to be a target mat.

The teams have been selected, but we still need more bodies to help fill the coach.

If you would like to come to support us, or have a day out in Southampton then please contact:- Ray on his home number between 6pm and 9pm any evening.

The coach will leave Minster church at 0540 and Icelands Canterbury at 0600. The fare is £12 (possibly less if we get enough response), and we will be leaving Southampton at 1700.

Lunch, 2 courses, is available at £4-50, but I must know your menu choice by Tuesday 22nd Feb at the very latest. (To date menu's are not yet available)

SPECIAL NOTICE

Arca have asked us to inform members that due to the building work taking place on their site car parking is a bit of a problem and the ground condition leaves a lot to be desired.

POEM

This is yet another from our seemingly resident poet Jean Wiskar, and is pertaining to her friend Brenda at Wingham.

Bowling Attitude (Read it to a Dos-si-do or Rap)

Come on bowlers - grab your bowls
And roll them down the mat.
Your aim is to get them close to the Jack
And I'm sure you can all do that.

Grab your bowls and roll them down
And maybe you've got bias.
What if you have - don't wear a frown
These things were sent to try us.

With forehand or a backhand pitch
Your bowls could hit the fender.
But they would first roll in the ditch
And if this happens - beware of Brenda !

Because if she's acting as your Skip
She'll play for sure perfection.
You know she won't take any lip
Or she'll sever your connection !

So come on bowlers - play the game
And climb up that league table,
If you want to reach the Hall of Fame
You must prove that you are able.

Jean Wiskar 1999
